Superman Returns (Singer, 2006)

Tha Man of Stale Indeed
Watched this at the cinemas last night. Along with Fantastic Four, Superman Returns is one of the worst super hero films ever made. Watching the film was like having sex for over two hours and then not having an orgasm at the end. There was no pay off. Everything about this film felt was either stale or over blown. SR is one nonsenseical action set-piece after another. Although fun to watch, Kevin Spacey's Lex Luthor is the worst on screen portrayal of a super villan. The rest of the characters are nothing more than one dimensional left overs from other super hero films.

I knew this film would suck from the moment I saw the teasers. The film itself serves no purpose. It has no reason to exist. I've always knew that Bryan Singer was a fag hack and nothing more. Singer feels that the audience should be in awe of what they are watching on screen not 'cos its brilliant, but just 'cos its the legendary pop icon Superman. And he tries to remind us of this fact by making Superman pose for the camera every 6 minutes.

One day, when we'll look back to see what films were responsible for Hollywoods downfall, Superman Returns will be highlighted in bold. This film is nothing more than a marketing exercise to lure retards into buying SR-branded merchandise. AK, mad, I think you guys were too kind to give this turd of a movie 2 stars.

So what to Jenna Jameson and Superman Returns have in common? The both suck cock!

The worst film of the year by far! A production Hollywood should be ashamed off. And if this is truly the direction in which Hollywood is heading, soon we can merge both the Hollywood and Bollywood sections of this site.

What angers me most is that 200+ million dollars were spent to make this piece of trash. 200 million would have been better spent making 50 or 60 well made and marketed independent films.

Hollywood is going to the dogs. With SR, Bryan Singer just helped flush the worlds most prominent film industry down the toilet.

Well, it's as simple as this : Imagine watching hollywood thatrical releases in Moscow. All you would get is Van Damme, Steven Segal, and brainless Summer trash like Bad Boys 2, MIB2, etc. Similiarly, what Dubai gets from Bollywood is just the big-budget trash, or small-budget crap. This does NOT mean Bollywood does not make good cinema. A movie like Fida, Bose - The Forgotten Hero, Iqbal none of you watch, and judge Bollywood on movies written about: all those abbriviated-title movies (KANK, KKKG, DDLJ, HAHK, KNPH) which also you don't watch.

Either say Hollywood & Bollywood are bad as Superman Returns & Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna
or say Hollywood & Bollywood are as good as Batman Begins & Omkara. Don't compare across quality.

As a comic fan, I'll tell you where the charm of superman lies - regardless of whether SR managed to convey it properly or not. Superman represents the ultimate humanity - despite our own hundreds of years of technological evolution (we might look like gods to people from a thousand years ago), he still has to deal with problems like relationships with lovers, parents and children, and how he looks at the meaning of his own life.
 to me, Superman isn't the guy u see on super-dickery - he's not gonna engage the hulk or cyclops in a pissing contest.
Lex luthor, has been portrayed in the movies a little more as comic relief than the total alpha male intellectual and evil genius that he is shown in the comics, or even smallville. Yes, singer's Lex needs a trip to dubai, but you gotta give him credit for just getting straight down to ass whooping the first chance he gets.
and for the last time - superman DOES NOT LOOK GAY!!
