vin diesel stars as Andy Riddick - one of the most elusive and dangerous criminals, in a sci fi universe set sometime in the distant future. The movie starts when the ship that he is prisoner on crashes onto an alien planet with his captor, and some other passengers. The planet is normally always alight with 3 suns, but when there is a total eclipse, the planet's native critters come out to play.

I admit - i'm apparently one of the few who hadn't seen this till a couple of days ago. I loved it - Vin Diesel lives up to all those "facts" in that other posting [Cheesy]. the movie deserves to be cult. vin diesel has taken the Anti-hero torch from kurt  "escape from NY" russel and done justice to it. His entrance alone is brilliant - while not a flashy, cheesy cliche entrance... it's vin diesel as Andy Riddick - blindfolded with his arms tied behind a post. He dislocates his arms, his elbows and escapes - and what makes this a gruesomely awesome impact, is the fact that he REALLY did that for the movie.

I love this film - while the story is simple and not very original, it's a perfectly crafted, intelligent genre film that engages the audience with great dialogue and characters.

The appeal in "Pitch Black" was despite its big sci-fi/action canvas, it was about personal things such as survival and values. All of those small things that worked so well in the first film were traded for the maxim "bigger is better" in the sequel. That's why the sequel didn't resonate with me.

Amazing flick...I heard it was released as a low budget b-movie, but it was a rage. I personally found it one of the reasons I love Vin Diesel. The game absolutely rocks, its got better graphics can Doom3, beat that.

True. Especially his special eye sight. They weren't used that effectively...he just acted like a runaway killer, and then as a warrior in the wrong place @ the wrong time.

Great little flick, and the sequel is a guilty pleasure of mine.

No no, that's like the tennis player - Vin's name in the movie is Richard B. Riddick, or Dick Riddick  Tongue

Great little flick, and the sequel is a guilty pleasure of mine.

No guilty pleasure there - I really like both the movies. While Pitch Black is the smarter smaller movie, the sequel is a wonderful piece of wham-bam entertainment. I LOVE the scenes on Crematoria Smiley
