I like
Doug Liman
and his movies barring the last atrocity that he committed called
Jumper
. This one gives me the feeling of the equally dissappointing
The Interpreter
, but maybe he can turn it around.

This looks like such a shit film - from the posters to the sad, pathetic, pedestrian trailer. Sean Penn almost seems to be gleefully smiling looking at Watts butt!
"Wife. Mother. Spy."
"Academy Award Winner"
"Academy Award Nominee"
"From the director of..."
"Inspired by true events"
Talk about being desperate.

The only way I would watch this film is if Naomi Watts jumped out from the screen and gave me a lap dance while Sean Penn videotaped the whole affair. May be then; may be.

If it were all in the script, why make the film?

Or if it had a sex scene like the one in 21 Grams.

cynicism cynicism! You guys make it look like a chore. It must be a case of Animatedude infection spreading all over the forum. So what it was a generic trailer and a crappy crappy poster wrapped in a familiar tired story with a load of talented people involved and the result looks uninviting, blah blah. Oh crap, I got infected too!

No way, you don't hear us go:
"What a fucking hack. Makes me want to go piss on his face/shit in his plate/etc. Boycott boycott. Worst movie EVA! I'd rather watch <some random chick flick>"
I'm usually game for mediocre movies, and while watching the trailer, even I couldn't help but think this idea has been reused and recycled endless times in the past.

Saw it on the plane and it was a satisfying political thriller. Didn't expect it to blow my mind away but it did manage to get a good performance out of
Naomi Watts
. It felt like
Doug Liman
stuck to the story without adding the special effects we would expect from a war film. He showed us the struggles of a CIA operative who is trying to manage her job and her family something that was also shown in the wonderful
Nothing But the Truth
.
Sean Penn
plays a catalyst in the movie and that is the only significant part he has in the movie, it seems that he signed on the movie just coz he was pissed off at President Bush and wanted everyone to know so.
Don't expect histrionics its just a nice human drama with the Iraq WMD fiasco as the backdrop.

My review and rating of this film is a replicate of what KT said. It was a good film, but was not anything special.
Watts
is amazing, while
Penn
was kinda annoying.
My Rating 3/5
