IMDb LinkSynopsis: Struggling road construction contractor, Sachin Tichkule is doomed to dream big. There is no chance in hell that his dreams will ever come true, simply because he has no money to bribe. To make matters worse, the new Municipal Commissioner turns out to be his ex girlfriend who now hates him.I was highly disappointed in this latest collaboration between
Akshay Kumar/Priyadarshan. I was not expecting an art house film, I was merely hoping for a slapstick comedy like
Garam Masala (a rip-off
Boeing Boeing), or
Bhagam Bhag. But I was not expecting this hodgepodge of a film, which tries to be everything, but ultimately achieves nothing. It tries to be slapstick comedy, but then it is a drama about the black sheep of the family, oh no no, it is a social commentary about corruption in Indian political and bureaucratic scene, then it is a love story. No, no it is a slapstick comedy. Oh no, now it is a family honor revenge tale. What is this? Is this a
Paul Greengrass style chase/fight scene?
To tell you the truth I was so confused about what was this damn movie wanting to say, because it never stuck to its gun, nor made up its mind. Sure it had some moments of hilarity (particularly, one extended sequence involving road-roller pulled by an elephant). Also the scenes between
Akshay Kumar, Rajpal Yadaf, and the
Johnny Liver, are the highlight of the film. But then again there is the open buffet of mixed genres in the film, bland and unimpressive songs, a very wooden lead actress in
Trisha (who is hot like hell but can't act shit), a long meandering setup that went on for about two hours vs. a very hasty sloppily put together resolution. All this made for a very unpleasant viewing, and I really can't for the life of me recommend it to anyone.
My Rating 1.5/5.
