GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City (Xbox 360, 2009)

This game contains two GTA episodes that came after the original GTA IV game. The two games include "The Lost and the Damned" and "The Ballad of Gay Tony".

Interestingly, as much as I love video games, I've never actually PLAYED PLAYED GTA. I mean, I've played them for 30 minutes to an hour, driving around stealing cars and killing people, but never really from start to finish. So I decided it was time to finally play it through.

I started with "The Lost and the Damned" and when I finished that, I moved over to "The Ballad of Gay Tony". Based on both games, I have to say that the latter is much better. The former did not have a great story, focusing on the lives and rivalries of a biker gang and frankly, everyone was a douche bag in that. In the Gay Tony story, the main character you play is an annoying hypocrite, but at least the other characters in the game are fun. Such as Gay Tony himself, probably video game's first major homosexual character, although before playing the game, I assumed you'd be PLAYING the character of Gay Tony. I'd really like to be a badass gangster homo, but alas. Also, there was a side character of a multi-millionaire, tacky Arab, who are always fun in their lameness.

Game-wise, while similar, I liked "The Ballad of Gay Tony" more. The biker game had too many bike rides ,which got boring after a while, and you couldn't do many missions with a car, so you HAD to drive around on your bike. With "The Ballad of Gay Tony", I'd take a cab, go to the location, steal a car, kill a bunch of people and repeat.

Both enjoyable for their random acts of violence.

These light missions, in all their randomness, are excellent for stress relief. Very addictive.

I can't think of anything better than mowing down people and blowing shit up in GTA IV for some stress relief...or the multiplayer in GTA IV, which is awesome. Except Mass Effect 2. And Command & Conquer. Or Just Cause 2.
