I've got a tentative schedule for the 7 days of DIFF. I've bought tickets for 4 movies. Since the other 21 are mostly movies I'm taking chances with, I'll use my press Badge to get into them. If they're sold out, no big loss. I can always pick another random movie.

Smart strategy. By the way, who else would share the fun with you this time around. Is it gonna be a big gathering like last years?

this is going to be the leanest DIFF yet. Not just in terms of what's showing, but who's watching as well. AK and I are the only regulars. Madali might make a cameo or two... Fizz & Kaytee will be out of town...

Yeah, good thing I didn't plan my dayview appearance this time around. Hopefully next year's lineup would be better, the gathering will be larger, and I will be there insha Allah.

Read this article. TimeOut Dubai is not only kissing ass, but cleaning it out.

My favorite part from the interview:

There’s such a variety of films showing this year. How do you select them?
There’s not really a criteria where we have A, B, C. In general, they’re human films....

By the time you get to be 25, you've seen 3,000. You've seen every permutation of every dramatic arc. And when somebody takes that and stands it on its head, that can be exciting." David Fincher

Really what did you expect? As far as I know timeout is a promotional journal, so you can't really blame them for doing their job which is promoting stuff. If you wanna a honest films review I suggest going to a little known site named wearethemovies.com  Wink

Actually choosing him makes sense. His star is in the rise, he had 3 releases this year 2 of them were very successful at the box-office, and he is a high profile name by Dubai standards. Notice that this opinion is from stardom point of view and has nothing to do with the quality of the films he made or his acting chops.

Ok let's but it in another way, name a 2009 star that DIFF can get and had a great run. Notice that this year's tenpole films were not exactly star vehicles. i.e. no Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, etc.

Got my DIFF press badge & kit today. Simple enough registration process and friendly & humble people at the counters. Although a lot of people were running around getting things in order for the morning and prepping for tomorrow, many had pleasant smiles and an approachable look.

I like this time of the year.
