Tagline: In a future where freedom is outlawed outlaws will become heroes.

For a movie which was tagged a Matrix rip-off, suprisingly, it does really well without Bullet Cam and other camera tricks, with no slow mo. It really reminded me of THX 1138, which I loved, but which left me asking WTF, and had a lot of elements from V for Vendetta.

A really innovative part of the movie was the art of gunfighting martial arts, which @ first seems cheesy, but eventually proved to be really neat.

I won't call this movie a rip-off. It's just fun, with a shit load of action, and I love Christian Bale's acting. But sadly, Sean Bean was a waste.

Matrix comparisons are very unfair.

Yes. "Equilibrium" is a bit hokey and steals from a dozen great sci-fi books and movies. But it is a fun, very well-made action film that features the innovative 'Gunkata' technique, and Christian Bale.

Plus -- spoiler, baby, spoiler! -- it ends with naughty Taye Diggs getting sliced in half. Actually that there just did it for me.

The whole last One-Man Army scene was nut-crazy-good. Directors like Wimmer should never be given enough freedom or budget to make disappointments like Ultraviolet.

Wimmer should make Ultraviolet 2.

I'm forwarding this post to David Twohy.

Oh, I support the idea myself. As much as I was disappointed by compromises made in "Chronicles of Riddick," I've always thought that Twohy should be given a last chance to finish his trilogy, and get it right before closing the 'franchise.'

Well, he wanted to make a quadroligy, but his stock fell real bad. Contrary to popular opinion on the movie, I did like Riddick 2, mainly for seeing Vin Diesel live the character again.

If another does get made, It's be more interesting to see something from before Riddick2 (Escaped Convict) rather than something from after Riddick2 (King of Underverse). Pitch Black (& Radha Mitchell) will always be loved.

No wonder it felt a bit like Ultraviolet...I haven't watched it, tho I've checked out a few scenes. I'll watch it today just to spite Ultraviolet and Equilibrium haters.
